Part of Traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis is taking your pulse. This is done by taking it at three different depths at three different locations on both sides of your wrists. Each area is different and signifies a separate organ. The pulses indicate to the practitioner the state of your organs energy.

You may hear your practitioner indicate that your pulse is wiry, slippery, tight, deep, irregular, etc. Due to the different locations each section will point towards the excess or deficiencies present in the body. We are all born with excess and deficiency and through living these will alter.

Combining the pulse, tongue, voice, speech, breathing, smell, face colour, general appearance and questions the practitioner is able to give a diagnosis’s based in the Traditional Chinese medicine theory.
