TUINA MASSAGE

Tuina massage (pronounced tweena) is guided by Traditional Chinese medicine theory and emphasizes the principles of strengthening the body’s resistance to disease. The manipulations are following the direction of the meridians or sometimes called channels. In China the male doctors are trained in particular manipulations for bone setting while the female doctors are trained for other therapeutic treatments. A practitioner will take into full consideration the state the person’s body prior to any treatment. Tuina Massage can be broken down into the following categories.

PEDIATRIC TUINA MASSAGE

Most treatments for babies and young children use tuina massage, not acupuncture needles. Babies and young children respond very quickly to tuina massage. Teaching parents some tuina techniques is extremely beneficial. Children respond better to their parents touch and it can be done in your own home. There is also a terrific book available at the clinic.

Simple techniques can alter symptoms that children experience such as, constipation, diarrhea, fever, vomiting, cough, bedwetting, lack of appetite (failure to thrive), just to name a few.
